Merhaba from Paris

Merhaba,
sorry I don’t speak Turkish except to say « nasilsiniz? chok guzel- chok teshekkur ».
(Sorry for the spelling mistakes).

I just joined today because I am looking for an old Turkish Longines watch.
I am quite active on English language forums (Omega Forums and Military watch ressource forum).
My interest in watches started with 1940s military watches and I am now interested in civilian watches from the pre-WWII period.

I am also a watch strap fan.
I enjoy a lot finding the perfect strap for an old watch— always happy to give people opinions on the best strap for their vintage watch.

Thanks to the admins for allowing me to post in the WTB section.
Best regards,
S

Bonjour, bienvenu chez notre forum. As for your search, I didn't see any Longines wristwatchs with "Nacib Djezvedjian" engraving before, but after I saw your message in WTB section, I made a quick search and learned that Nacib Djezvedjian was a distributor of Longines in Ottoman era starting with 1880s and in Turkish Republic until 1960s. Turkey may be famous for hospitality but also with mischief, so you should be careful while browsing for the watch from web as it will be a vintage watch, it might be a franken or overpriced. This forum is quite the best and cheapest place in Turkey for safely shopping, but I doubt that anyone owns a vintage Longines with "Nacib Djezvedjian" marking.

After a quick search, I can able to find pocket watches, which I think overpriced(1 EUR = 6.37 Turkish Lira):

This one is a "şark kurnazı", just ignore him: https://tr.letgo.com/tr/i/longines-cep-saati-1887-nacib-k-djezvedjian_bd869adb-dcdc-4446-99d2-d7f2714f7a3f

Best way to find what you are looking for might be to come to Turkey and to look by the first hand. Sirkeci district in Istanbul is probably the best place to hunt for vintage timepieces.

For your other interest, our forum members have a wide portfolio of best quality handmade straps, please feel free to take a look:

Thank you all, Ankhtas and Debra!

Appreciate the kind suggestions!

Comign to Turkey in person would probably be my preferred option !!

I'm realizing the project to buy at a distance may be unrealistic.
People don't know me, and I just received a message from someone who wants my email address to send me photos (and payment via wire transfer). I may be unknown but this is also quite unsafe for me.

Best regards
